Detoxifying Your Body

You can detoxify your body when you consume nothing but fruit, vegetables and juices as a substitute for their normal everyday meals. Detoxification has proved to be extremely effective, especially in treating rheumatoid arthritic patients. The reason for this is that people are allergic to certain foods which aggravate their arthritic symptoms. By leaving the allergic foods out of their diet, symptoms usually improve.

Think of your body as a sponge, it can only absorb so many chemicals before it stops and things go wrong. If you are taking in more chemicals and producing more toxins than your body can get rid off then we would have an imbalance. When this occurs, your body is more prone to illnesses and diseases - because of this we must stay within our body's tolerance levels to maintain a healthy body and immune system.

The most logical explanation why detoxification is so effective is that eating only fruit and vegetables, you are avoiding those foods that contain chemicals that can potentially aggravate the symptoms of arthritis. Study done by Palmblad et al in 1991 found that total fasting for a few days substantially reduced joint swelling, morning stiffness and other arthritis symptoms. The reasons why total fasting works so well in reducing the symptoms is because there is less chemicals in the body to start the inflammation process.

Total fasting is only used as an example of how diet can affect your arthritis. It is not recommended that you fast because it deprives your body of important nutrients. However, fasting can be used at the start of a diet to clear your body of toxins.
